Malnutrition in Bihar

Severe Acute Malnutrition is a medical condition that affects growth and cognitive development in children aged six months to five years. If left untreated, can lead to death. In Bihar, MSF has admitted more than 17,000 SAM patients.

Close to 90 percent of those who suffer malnutrition are less than two years old, and belong to the poorest and most vulnerable castes. And more than 60 percent are women.
